Local message preparation
The contact tool processes the name, email address, subject and message you enter within your browser. The tool has no server-submission function and does not itself transmit those fields to us. It does not save drafts in cookies or localStorage.
Choosing copy places the prepared text on your device's clipboard, subject to browser permission. Choosing download creates a text file on your device. Your browser, operating system or clipboard synchronisation service may retain those items. You control their subsequent use and deletion. A browser may also restore form entries under its own settings.
Information received by email
If you send an email, we receive the information you include, your sender address and associated message metadata. We use it to consider your enquiry, respond where appropriate, investigate corrections and maintain a record of relevant correspondence. Please avoid sending sensitive personal data, confidential infrastructure information or details about other people without a lawful reason.
Our usual lawful basis for ordinary correspondence is legitimate interests in operating the publication and responding to readers. We consider the necessity of the processing and the effects on your rights. Where a legal duty requires processing, the basis is compliance with that duty. We do not use correspondence to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
Technical data and service providers
Serving a website necessarily involves technical processing such as receiving an IP address and requested page address. Hosting and security systems may generate access or error logs containing device, time and request information. Such data is used for delivery, fault investigation and protection against misuse, on the basis of legitimate interests in a functioning, secure publication.
The site's own code includes no analytics, advertising pixels or third-party embeds. Necessary hosting and email providers may process information on our behalf. We do not sell personal data. Information may also be disclosed where legally required or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Where personal data is transferred outside the United Kingdom, applicable data-protection requirements must be met, including an appropriate adequacy framework or contractual safeguards where required. You may ask us for information about safeguards relevant to your correspondence.
Retention and security
We retain personal data only as long as needed for its purpose, including handling an enquiry, maintaining an appropriate correction record, meeting legal obligations or resolving a dispute. Retention depends on the nature of the record; routine material should not be kept simply because storage is available.
Reasonable organisational and technical measures are used to limit inappropriate access and disclosure. No website or email service can guarantee absolute security. Do not send passwords, access tokens or security-sensitive asset records.
Your rights and complaints
Subject to the relevant legal conditions, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal data. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. We may need proportionate information to verify a requester's identity and will respond within applicable statutory periods.
You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office. Contacting us first can help resolve a concern but is not a condition of exercising your right to complain.
