What cookies and local storage do
Cookies are small pieces of data that a website may ask your browser to store and return with later requests. Local storage is a separate browser facility that scripts can use to retain information across visits. Session storage is similar but normally scoped to a browsing session. These technologies have different lifetimes and access rules.
A browser can also cache page files, remember form entries or retain browsing history under its own settings. Those functions are not the same as a tracking cookie placed by this publication.
Behaviour of the publication's code
| Feature | Purpose | Persistence in site code |
|---|---|---|
| Navigation state | Open or close the mobile menu | Page memory only |
| Scroll observation | Reveal numbered sections as they enter view | No visitor record stored |
| Message draft | Prepare and review text locally | No cookie or localStorage draft |
| Clipboard | Copy text when explicitly requested | Managed by your device |
| Text download | Save a message file when requested | File retained on your device |
Our page code includes no advertising network, analytics library, social embed or cross-site tracking pixel. Images, stylesheets and scripts are requested as local site files. Opening an external reference link makes a separate request to that other website.
Consent and delivery-layer services
Any consent controls supplied by the site's delivery platform operate separately from the page features described above. Where optional services are offered, their applicable information and controls should identify the purpose and allow you to decline non-essential use. Refusing optional services should not prevent reading the guides.
Infrastructure used to deliver or protect a website may operate necessary technical functions outside the page JavaScript. Browser developer tools and the browser's site-data controls can show the cookies and storage actually present for the current domain. This page does not describe a specific hosting-provider cookie as being present when none has been identified.
Managing data on your device
Use your browser's privacy or site settings to inspect, delete or restrict cookies and site data. Removing stored preferences supplied by a consent service may cause it to ask again. Browser-specific help explains how to manage form restoration, cached pages and download history.
Deleting cookies does not remove a downloaded message file or text already placed on a clipboard. Delete those separately if needed. Clipboard synchronisation and browser-account features may be controlled through your device or account settings rather than this website.
